MAKE ROOM

Isaiah 43:18-19

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?

While on my lunch break, I sat in my recliner and was preparing to post on my Facebook page. REMINDER: CLEAN OUT YOUR DEEP FREEZER.

This is why my recliner is so special to me. This is exactly where I can sit and God will meet me right there. Here I am thinking, let me make a funny post, and there in the center of it, I hear:

You can’t see the potential of what’s already in you because of the clutter.

Let's think about that freezer. It wasn’t necessarily empty. It was full, but full of things that were no longer useful. And because it was full, I couldn’t clearly see what I actually had or make room for what I needed.

That’ll preach all by itself.

Sometimes we keep asking God for new while holding on to things that have already expired.

Old thoughts. Old offenses. Old fears. Old expectations. Old versions of ourselves. Things that served a purpose in one season, but have been sitting there taking up space ever since.

And just like that deep freezer, some things have been tucked so far in the back that I forgot they were even there.

Until it’s time to clean.

Purging isn’t always about losing something. Sometimes it’s preparation.

You make room because you’re expecting something new.

You clear out what has expired so you can recognize what is still good.

You get rid of the unnecessary clutter so you can actually see what God has already placed in your hands.

And maybe that’s the question:

What am I holding onto that has already expired?

Because we can pray, “God, pour out something new,” while giving Him absolutely nowhere to put it.

Whew.

Clean the freezer. Clear the clutter. Make room. We are in the last quarter of 2026. Let's leave this year better than we entered.
